The A-Z of the Jerome Schottenstein Center: Accessibility Guide: We have the Jerome Schottenstein Center Accessibility Guide for our guests with disabilities. This brochure was designed specifically to assist our guests in having an enjoyable experience at the Center. We encourage our guests with disabilities to stop by and pick up a copy or view an online version by clicking here. Animals: Animals are not allowed in the arena except for those with disabled guests. Please contact The Jerome Schottenstein Center's ADA Coordinator, Scott Dickson, if any accommodations are required (614-688-3939). Assisted Listening Devices: Headsets and receivers for our multi-channel LPB Radio-Aide are available at no charge from Guest Services located at Section 122, on the entry level. Either a driver's license or credit card will be required as a deposit.
ATMs: ATMs are available inside the Center and they are conveniently located on the Entry Level concourse at sections 117 and 131 and on the Huntington Level at section 231. Bags and Backpacks: Large bags and backpacks are NOT permitted inside the arena at any time. If you arrive at the Center with such an item, you will be instructed to return the item to your vehicle. Banners, Posters and Signs: Banners, posters and signs will not be permitted for any Ohio State University athletic events. Some sign and banners may be allowed but this will vary from event to event; they may not be displayed during the show or play due to sightline issues. These items may not be placed around the Center (walls, railings or suite areas). No poles or sticks to display such items will be allowed in the Center at any time. Any signs that are deemed offensive, vulgar or commercial in nature will not be permitted.
Cameras for OSU athletic events: Cameras are permitted for all Ohio State University athletic events; however, professional lenses will not be permitted. At no time may photography interfere with other guests' enjoyment, stair aisles or access ways during an event. These policies may vary from event to event, please call in advance to check. Cameras for all Entertainment events: Cameras of any kind are NOT permitted for any Entertainment events in the Center. This policy can vary from event to event, please call ahead and check for the event or show you may be attending. If you arrive at the Center with such an item, you will not gain entrance and you will be instructed to return the item to your vehicle. Changing Stations: Changing stations are available in all restrooms. Children's Entry for OSU athletic events: All guests must have a ticket to gain entrance to an OSU athletic event. Children's Entry for Entertainment events: For most special events, any child 2 years old or younger does not need a ticket, but would be required to sit in the lap of their parent or guardian. However, some family shows have different policies, which we must abide by. These policies may vary from event to event; if you have questions, please call 614-688-3939 for information about a specific event.
Concessions: We are proud to have Sodexho as the official concessionaire of the Jerome Schottenstein Center. There are 37 permanent concession stands located throughout the Center offering a myriad of food and beverage choices to satisfy all the different tastes of our guests. Some of the choices include Coca-Cola products, Donato's Pizza, Starbuck's coffee, Johnsonville Brats and Dippin' Dots just to name a few. Containers: Food and beverages, coolers, bottles and cans are not permitted in the Center at any time. Designated Driver Program: Disability Assistance: Guests needing assistance simply need to notify a staff member at any of our four entrances. There is no need to call ahead...this service is provided at all events. The Gate Supervisor will radio to Guest Services. One of our representatives will pick you up in a wheelchair and escort you as close as possible to your seat location. They will then make arrangements to pick you up at the conclusion of the event. But there is one thing to keep in mind…while our guests arrive at various times, everyone typically leaves at the same time. Therefore, it may take a little extra time at the conclusion of the event depending on the number of people to be picked up. We think you will agree that the service is worth a little extra wait! Doors Open: Depending on the event, doors/gates typically open 60 to 90 minutes prior to the face-off, show start or tip-off of each event. Please call (614) 688-3939 or 1(800) ARENA-01 to verify times for the event you plan to attend. Emergency Phone Calls: To reach somebody attending an event (during an emergency ONLY), please call our administrative office at (614) 688-3939. It is imperative that you have their exact seat location including Section, Row and Seat. We will gladly take a message to them. Without a seat location, it could be impossible to locate them. We are unable to make PA announcements during events. Elevators: Guests wishing to use our elevators will find three available for use. On the Entry Level they can be found on the concourse outside of sections 101, 118 & 127, on the Huntington Level at sections 201, 218 & 227 and on the Terrace Level at sections 302, 319 & 326. Please allow our guests with disabilities priority use. Escalators: Escalators are located inside the Northwest Rotunda leading to the Huntington Level and on the east side of the building leading to the Huntington and Terrace levels.  First Aid: In the event of an emergency, please notify any JSC Team Member or uniformed police officer in your area. Paramedics and EMTs staff First Aid Centers at the Schottenstein Center. First Aid is located on the entry level at Section 118 and on the terrace level at Section 331. Food and Beverages: Food and beverages (including alcohol) purchased outside the Center will not be permitted into the Center at any time. Concession stands are conveniently located throughout and selling various types of food and beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. All guests wishing to purchase alcohol will be required to show a valid form of ID when purchasing alcoholic beverages. Gates Open: Depending on the event, gates/doors typically open 60 to 90 minutes prior to the face-off, show start or tip-off of each event. Guest and Fan Conduct: Depending on the audience demographics and type of event, standing may be accepted as normal. Guests are permitted to stand if the majority of the crowd is doing so. Many artists will instruct JSC staff not to ask anyone to sit down during their performance. Each situation is handled on an individual basis. Standing on seats, rails or other structures is never permitted under any circumstances. The following behaviors may lead to ejection from the facility:
- Public intoxication; persons observed breaking the law
- Persons using obscene or abusive language
- Persons observed throwing objects on the event floor or stage.
Guest Services: Guest Services, home of our Access Service Center, is located on the Main Concourse at Section 122. Guest Services is professionally staffed and distributes assisted listening devices and alternative format materials. We also provide a variety of other services. Please stop by and see us!
 Hall of Fame: The Hall of Fame is located across from The Official Team Shop and is open during normal business hours and during all OSU athletic events, admission is free. Hotels and Lodging: Easy interstate access; convenient to Airport (10-15 minute drive); within walking distance of 150+ hotel rooms. Hotels located within 1 mile of the arena include: The Holiday Inn on the Lane, The Blackwell and University Plaza Hotel. Hours of Operation: Normal hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with additional hours on event days. Interpretive Services: Guests, who require interpreting services for an event, should contact the JSC ADA Coordinator, Scott Dickson, at (614) 688-3939 a minimum of three weeks prior to the event date to ensure services. We cannot guarantee later requests. Item Check: Unfortunately, the Center does not offer item checks. Only child restraint seats that do not fit may be checked in at guest services. Any item that brought to the Center that is not permitted must be returned to the guest's vehicle. Jobs: Many part-time employment opportunities are available ranging from operations and conversions to building security and guest attendants. Please click here to fill out an application online. Laser Pens: Laser pens or any other type of laser object is strictly prohibited from the Center. Any guest found using such an object is subject to immediate ejection from the building as well as confiscation of the object. In addition, any game delay created by use of such object by a fan can result in a penalty to the home team. Lost and Found: During an event, all Lost & Found items are turned in to Guest Services (located at Section 122). If you find an item during an event you can simply give it to any member of our staff and they will take it to Guest Services. Once the event is completed, all unclaimed items are taken to our main administrative offices. If you need to follow-up on a lost item, please call 688-3939. Lost Parents and Found Children: Any parents looking for their children should report to the Guest Services booth located on the Main Concourse at Section 122 or ask a JSC staff member for assistance.
Merchandise: All OSU merchandise can be purchased from the Official Team Shop during regular business hours and with additional hours during all OSU athletic events. For more information, please call the Official Team Shop direct at (614) 292-2073. Noise-Making Devices: No extraneous noise-making devices are permitted inside the Center. These items include but are not limited to: horns, whistles, air horns, change filled milk jugs, cow bells and bugles. Parking: The Center is located on the Ohio State University campus at the corner of Lane Avenue and Olentangy River Road accessible directly off Rt. 315. Local traffic should exit at Ackerman from 315 North or South and proceed east to designated lots or continue to Olentangy River (turn right). The Center features 5,000 on-site parking spaces. - Baby seats are permitted only if the guest has a separate ticket for the child (if not, the item can be checked-in at Guest Services (section 122).
- Books, newspapers and magazines
- Binoculars
- Cellular phones
- Pagers
- Purses
- Walkman radios with headphones and only for OSU athletic events
- Watchman televisions with headphones and only for OSU athletic events
Prohibited Items: There are certain items allowed into the facility and others that are not. For the safety and comfort of guests, staff, and the artist, the following items are never permitted in the facility:
- Animals (except service animals assisting guests with disabilities)
- Coolers or containers (includes cans and bottles)
- Fireworks or explosives
- Food or beverages
- Helium balloons and beach balls
- Illegal Drugs
- Laser Pointers
- Noise makers and horns
- Strollers
- Weapons of any description (includes some pocket knives, wallet chains, tools and some jewelry)
- Other items that in the judgment of JSC Management pose a safety hazard or diminish the enjoyment of an event by other guests.
There are additional items (those that pose a threat to guests, staff and artists depending on the type of show and the audience demographic it attracts) that may be prohibited for a specific event. In addition, different artists have different preferences as to what they will and will not allow during their performance. Contractual agreements normally restrict the use of cameras, video recorders and audio recorders. Some artists allow small, non-professional cameras. If you would like to check on the camera policy for a specific event, please call us at 688-3939. Quiet Room: A parent's quiet room is an area where parents can relax during certain concerts that attract a younger demographic. Snacks, magazines and a television are all available in the Quiet Room. A ticket for the event is not required, however, parents must remain in the Quiet Room and do not have access to the show at any time. The room is free of charge and available at only certain shows. Please call to see if there is a Quiet Room for the next concert your child's attending. Re-Entry: Guests of the Center may not leave and then re-enter. All guests must present an unused ticket to gain entrance to the Center. Restrooms: All public restrooms are designed to be accessible to our guests with disabilities. Restrooms are available on all levels. Family restrooms are available at First Aid (Section 118) and at JSC Administration Offices (across from Section 104). Safety Warnings: Please be aware of flying pucks! They can be propelled into the stands at any time during warm-up, play or after the stoppage of play. To help avoid injury, please be alert at all times when you are in the stands. If at any time you are injured, please contact the nearest JSC Team Member for assistance. First Aid is located on the entry level at Section 118 and on the terrace level at Section 331. Seating: Seating locations within the Center are reserved for guests holding valid admission tickets. Please sit only in your assigned seat so as not to inconvenience other guests and always retain your ticket stub to allow our JSC Team Members to verify your proper seat location. Seating locations inside the arena are as follows:
- Floor Level: - Seats are located on the floor one level down from the entry level and can gain access by way of the stairs, elevator or seating down aisles.
- Entry Level: - Also known as the 100 Level seats, they are located off the Entry Level concourse and range from 101 to 134.
- Huntington Club Level: - 200 Level seating found one level up from the entry level. Escalator, elevator or stairway can access this level. This level is restricted during Men's Basketball games to those with proper tickets (200 Level, Suite ticket holders, PSL ticket holders or Endowment Club members).
- Terrace Level: - 300 and 400 level seating found two and three levels up from the Entry Level. Access to these levels can be found by taking an elevator, escalator or stairway.
Security: The Center's security is managed 24 hours a day 7 days a week and is provided to offer professional protection for the facility, guests and performers. Shuttle service: A free of charge shuttle service is available at most of our events and runs from the Buckeye Lots, located at the corner of Ackerman and Fred Taylor Drive across from Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, to the Northeast Rotunda of the Center. The service is typically available a minimum of two hours prior to the start of an event until typically 90 minutes after the event has concluded. Please call (614) 688-3939 to see if the shuttle will be available during the event you are attending. Smoking Policy and Locations: Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the Center. However, designated smoking areas are located on our outdoor terraces located across from Sections 330 and 333. Tag-a-Kid: Oftentimes when children are separated from their parents / guardians, they do not know their seat location nor do they have a ticket stub. This program helps ensure the safety of our guests of all ages. Families simply need to check in at Guest Services to enroll in the program. Each child will be given a wristband to wear that indicates the child's exact seat location. In the unfortunate event that the child gets separated from his/her group, we can efficiently return them to their parents/guardians. The wristbands are particularly helpful if the child is shy and hesitant to speak with strangers.
Television Monitors: There are over 200 television monitors located throughout the Center to ensure that you never miss a moment of the Buckeye action. Telephones: Accessible telephones are located on various levels of The Jerome Schottenstein Center. A public TDD is located on the Entry Level in the JSC Administration Office. Public use pay phones are located on the Entry level outside section 131 and inside the Northwest Rotunda and on the Huntington level at section 217. The Official Team Shop: The Official Team Shop is located on the east end of the Entry level concourse and features the latest in Buckeye apparel, gift ideas and accessories. The Team Shop is open during regular business hours with additional hours during Ohio State games. BOX OFFICE HOURS: Monday -Friday 8AM-5PM (subject to change). Tickets are available at The Box Office located just inside the southeast rotunda of the Jerome Schottenstein Center. Tickets for entertainment events are also available through Kroger Ticketmaster centers (cash + credit cards--MasterCard, Visa and Discover), charge-by-phone at (614) 431-3600 or (614) 292-2624, or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Group sales information is available by calling Cyndee Young at (330) 262-9790. Tours: We do offer free tours on a limited basis. All tours must be scheduled in advance by calling 688-3939. Keep in mind that we must schedule tours around the many events we have in the facility. Tours cannot be provided on an event day. JSC Management strictly determines additional availability. Tour guests who require interpreting services should contact the Center ADA Coordinator three weeks prior to the anticipated tour date. Ushers: Ushers are located at the entrance to each section and are available to assist you find your seat or for any information or assistance you may need. Violation of Policies: Any violation of Center policies or state/local laws may result in ejection, fines, and/or prosecution to the fullest extent of the law. Zamboni: Frank Zamboni of Southern California created the first ice-resurfacing machine in the early 1940's. The Center uses a Volkswagen powered, hydrostatic transmission Zamboni to create a fresh sheet of ice resulting in a hard, fast playing surface for the OSU Men's Ice Hockey team. |
